Although St. Louis County parks have been slowly reopening since April, their playgrounds and bathrooms have remained closed for the last six months. If your little one has missed climbing on jungle gyms this summer, read on.
The county executive's office announced last Friday that 55 playgrounds at St. Louis County parks will reopen today. Here's everything you need to know about the reopenings.
1. The playground equipment is only to be used from 8 a.m. to dusk.
2. Each playground's equipment will be cleaned and sanitized several times throughout the week with products approved by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
3. Other facilities also closed during this time will now be open, including restrooms, skate parks, courts, and indoor facilities. Drinking fountains and exercise stations will stay closed.
4. Don't forget your mask, but note that kids are not required to wear one while playing.
5. As plastered signs should remind visitors, stay home if you're sick, wash those hands, and make sure to stay at least six feet away from others while you enjoy the amenities. If one playground is particularly busy, it's best just to come back or do something else until it's easy for kids to play and parents to monitor without being too crowded together.
6. Playgrounds in St. Louis City will remain closed.
