Play tents are an easy way to transform a room into a magical place to learn and explore. “As a kid and an adult, I’ve always loved creating cozy spaces to curl up with a good book, write in my journal, or draw in my sketchbook,” says Jenny Murphy, founder of local nonprofit Perennial and the creator/teacher behind an A-frame building workshop called Tiny Tents. “I was raised by two architects, so they had no problem with me planning and building spaces.” On the morning of December 12, little St. Louisans—ages 6 to 12, accompanied by a parent—can learn basic woodworking skills, as well as how to create prints on fabric with natural paint. Each child and parent will leave with a small A-frame tent made from found and recycled materials and designed for indoor and outdoor play. After all, ’tis the season to snuggle.
