On Soon Having an Empty Nest: I’m excited and nervous. I didn't get to have the traditional college experience, so the fact that my daughter will be able to go to college is a blessing in its own right. I am looking forward to seeing her thrive. I’m nervous because I’ve been a mother since the age of 18; it’s pretty much been my life. To be on my own will be different, but I am looking forward to it.
On Balancing Parenthood and a Career: I refer to it as work-life management. It is more about managing than trying to create perfect balance. Create boundaries so that your priorities will always get done. Fill your cup because you can’t pour into someone else’s if your cup is empty.
A Day in the Life: After seeing my daughter to school, my day is filled with my role at Imo’s—planning, creating, and collaborating with my team. After work, I spend time with my daughter and work on my blog/consulting duties with clients. Then I work on my second novel. After, it’s Hulu or Netflix until lights out.
Lessons You’d Like to Impart to Your Kids: Don’t be afraid to tell your story in your own way.
Fun Fact: I’ve lived in seven states and went to four different elementary schools and four different high schools.
