St. Louis–based artist and illustrator Cbabi Bayoc will host a free virtual paint party, called The Revolving Paintbrush, over Zoom at 10 a.m. on July 25.
The goal is for kids to find a way to connect despite the coronavirus sweeping the country and find a way to channel their feelings and energy into artwork. It's also a good bonding experience for families, who can participate together. (All kids are welcome but make sure to RSVP.)
This is the second virtual party; the first drew more than 100 kids. Bayoc's team expects an even bigger turnout for this one, which will last an hour and a half.
Kids should have paper, canvas, poster, or other material that's sturdy enough to paint on; several paintbrushes; paint; a cup of water; and paper towels to participate. Bayoc will also provide coloring sheets for those who prefer coloring over painting.
Bayoc's philanthropic organization, eManciPaint, is sponsoring the event. eManciPaint focuses on creating community projects for children "from all cultures, backgrounds, and traditions," according to the party's press release.
Bayoc began making illustrations as a caricature artist at Six Flags St. Louis. Since then, he has drawn for Rap Pages Magazine and the cover of the Violator Compilation Vol. 1 album, as well as brands including Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, New Line Cinema, and MCA Records. He also drew the cover of Prince's album "The Rainbow Children," after years of Prince being a fan of his art.
