You've seen all the lights, petted the reindeer, and eaten way too many holiday cookies. Now what? Get the kids out of the house for an afternoon or a few days at one of these great St. Louis-area winter camps. Kids can indulge their inner artist with craft experiments or learn a power chord on their days off school.
LEGO Camps
Kids from ages 5–12 can hone their LEGO building skills at a variety of camp locations. Themes include engineering, super heroes, Angry Birds, Harry Potter, Minecraft, robotics, and more. LEGO camps include Kirkwood Bricks 4 Kidz, Chesterfield Bricks 4 Kidz, Play-Well at the Missouri History Museum, and Snapology in Glendale. They range from one to three days and fit perfectly into your winter break.
Winter Science Blast
Kids from first to fifth grade can explore outer space, dinosaurs, chemistry, and physics at the Saint Louis Science Center. Sign up for an afternoon or the whole week—every day offers something different. Morning and afternoon sessions are offered from December 21–29.
Winter Getaway
Fill your holiday break with free fun at the Missouri History Museum. The museum will host activities, crafts, and scavenger hunts based on their TOYS exhibit and a free children's presentation of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. On December 31, there's a Noon Year's Eve celebration for kids who can't stay up to midnight.
School of Rock
Learn how to rock—no experience required. A special three-day camp from December 27–29 is offered to kids ages 7 and up that includes a live rock show for family and friends. School of Rock has locations in Kirkwood and Ballwin.
Artscope
From ugly sweaters to Festivus (a camp for the rest of us!), Artscope in Tower Grove Park has your kid's creative side covered. There are nine full-day sessions from December 22–January 3, each covering a different art subject.
Balls-n-Strikes Winter Camp
Get ready for spring with Balls-n-Strikes' winter baseball camps. Kids can practice hitting, pitching, or catching at three locations: Ballwin, Chesterfield, and St. Charles. Sessions are offered from December 27–30.
