You are invited to Gateway Korean Foundation’s 7th Annual Chuseok Festival.
Due to COVID-19, the Gateway Korea Foundation’s Annual Chuseok Festival is going virtual this year with a three-day series from September 17th through the 19th. This free online event will be filled with traditional Korean music, crafts, games, and more as we celebrate the Korean harvest festival known as Chuseok. This event series is a great opportunity to experience Korean culture from the comfort of your own home and has activities children and adults alike are sure to enjoy!
Day 1 | Thursday, September 17th, 7 p.m. CDT
Music Performance by the Eine Ensemble
The Eine Ensemble will play popular folk songs from Korea and around the world, ranging from “Arirang” to “Danny Boy.” Performers include Kim Young (flutist), Ahn Hyungsoo (guitarist), and Kim Sooji (pianist).
Day 2 | Friday, September 18th, 7 p.m. CDT
Crafts, Games, Folk Song & Folk Tale
To reflect the spirit of Chuseok, which promotes “togetherness of the family,” families from the St. Louis metropolitan community will teach about various Korean traditional activities, including crafts, games, folk songs, and folk tales.
Day 3 | Saturday, September 19th, 7 p.m. CDT
Korean Martial Arts, K-Pop & Samulnori
To end our Chuseok series, there will be a Korean martial arts demonstration by Y.S. Rho Martial Arts of Chesterfield, K-pop performances by K:ODE and other popular groups, and samulnori (traditional Korean folk music using percussion instruments).
