The summer may be a time to experience a heat wave but another wave is soon to come. The Fluffy GRL Movement is back and better than ever after a two-year hiatus. This year, Fluffy GRL Movement is hosting GRL Weekend, a two-day event series created to celebrate body diversity and build community around mental and physical wellness for plus-sized women and their allies. The weekend kicks off on August 5, 2022, at 6 p.m. with the Candid Convo Kickoff happening at the Aloft St. Louis Cortex, located at 4245 Duncan Ave. The signature and much-anticipated event, Curves N’ Waves Pool Party takes place on August 6, at 8 p.m. at the Collinsville Aqua Park, located at 10 Gateway Drive in Collinsville, IL. GRL Weekend 2022, is made possible by Aloft St. Louis Cortex, Dove, and Country Financial.

Founder of Fluffy GRL Movement, Ebbi Nicole, wanted to elevate the event to the next level after celebrating body diversity for over a decade. "We have remained committed to celebrating body diversity in innovative and informative ways. Now it is time to take it up a notch,” she said. GRL Weekend empowers women to amplify their voices beyond societal influence, celebrate self-expression, and understand the strength in diverse communities amongst women. The series will set the bar for body awareness in the Midwest with an experience that guests will remember for a lifetime.

Candid Convo Kickoff will set the tone for the innovative, female-exclusive weekend. Women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds will gather for a cocktail evening to celebrate the first ever GRL Weekend. Moderated by Nicole, this evening will center an interactive panel discussion exploring the taboo topic of health versus weight with special guest, curvy model, and roller-skater, Natural Curvy Terray. Complete with the soulful sounds of St. Louis jazz vocalist, Katarra, themed cocktails, and lots of GRL time, this kickoff event will be a summer must-attend event.

In 2019, Fluffy GRL Movement's signature event, Curves N' Waves Pool Party, attracted over 100 women from across the midwestern region. This year, the event is an immersive experience merging art with plus-sized bodies and movement. Flow art performers and glow-in-the-dark body paint will illuminate the night to the tunes of a live DJ. Additionally, special activation stations and signature gifts from Dove will be provided for Very Important Fluff (VIF) ticket holders. “We are so excited to add a new element to this year’s event,” said Ebbi.
