Nurses in St. Louis spend countless hours serving our community and selflessly touching lives. St. Louis Magazine would like to show our gratitude for the excellent nurses at our schools, hospitals, nurseries, colleges, and clinics. To honor of these dedicated nurses, St. Louis Magazine will be hosting our fifth annual Excellence in Nursing Awards Reception presented by Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes Jewish College. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at The Chase Park Plaza.
Last fall, we put out the call for nominations and received more than 200 submissions. While each and every one of the nominees had an outstanding background in their field, the judges carefully narrowed the list to 66 exceptional finalists in 18 categories. Our 2014 selection committee included: Geraldine "Polly" Bednash, CEO and Executive Director, American Association of Colleges of Nursing; Ann Cary, Dean, University of Missouri-Kansas City's School of Nursing and Health Science; Karen Drenkard, Executive Director, American Nurses Credentialing Center; Shirley Farrah, Assistant Dean of Nursing Outreach, University of Missouri-Columbia's Sinclair School of Nursing; Judith Halstead, Professor of Nursing, Indiana University School of Nursing; Debra Harrison, Chief Nursing Officer, Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville, Florida; Rebecca McClanahan, President, Missouri Nurses Association; Phyllis Arn Zimmer, President, Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation.
