The Greater St. Louis Heart Walk took place yesterday at Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park in honor and remembrance of the millions who have been impacted by Congenital Heart Disease. This exciting event that takes places in cities all over the nation is a joint effort between the Adult Congenital Heart Association and The Children’s Heart Foundation.
While the weather was not exactly perfect, the walk began at 9:30 A.M. Participants had the option of completing a one-mile path or a 3.7-mile course around the lake. The lake provided a perfect backdrop for walkers and runners alike. Those lucky enough to witness the natural wildlife of the area enjoyed an added bonus.
The inspiring and fun-filled day was sponsored by Centene Charitable Foundation and Home State Health Plan. It focused on raising funds for the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect in the United States and the world. The participants received complimentary lunch provided by Hardee’s and walk T-shirts were awarded to those who raised or donated $125 or more. The walk was extremely successful raising over $60,000.
