St. Louis, MO - (Monday, August 24) Cadillac presents St. Louis Magazine’s FEVER Fall Fashion Show on Saturday, September 12, from 7 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. at Plaza Frontenac. The event will feature Saks Fifth Avenue designer fall collections and benefit the St. Louis chapter of Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting autism awareness, raising funds for the fight against the disease, and providing support to all who are affected by the disorder. The celebrity guest and honorary chair for the event is Holly Robinson Peete. Guy Phillips, of Y98, will serve as emcee.
Holly Robinson Peete’s eldest son, Rodney Jr., was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. In 2005, inspired by her son, she formed hollyrod4kids to improve the lives of children affected by circumstances beyond their control. Through hollyrod4kids and her recent position on the national board for Autism Speaks, she has become an advocate for the consistent and reliable education, outreach and support on autism. Robinson Peete is best known for her roles on Sesame Street, 21 Jump Street, and Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper. She recently wrapped up a successful run as an on-air personality alongside her husband, former NFL great, Rodney Peete, on their daily radio program “Meet the Peetes.” Also an accomplished author, in Spring 2010, Robinson Peete will release her second book, My Brother Charlie, a children’s picture book about autism, co-authored by her 11-year-old daughter.
St. Louis Magazine’s FEVER promises to be a one-of-a-kind evening of designer fashion, fabulous food and energetic music. Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary Pearl Vodka cocktails, Budweiser Select and light fare from Brio Tuscan Grille, Butler’s Pantry, Canyon Café, Chaumette Winery, Colleen’s Cookies, L’Ecole Culinaire and Lucas Park Grille. The highlight of the evening will be a stunning Saks Fifth Avenue runway fashion show featuring designer collections from Akris, Armani, Chanel, Gucci, La Via 18, Lida Baday, Prada, Ralph Lauren and more. Prior to the fashion show, Peete will greet the crowd and introduce nine children affected by autism as they model children’s clothing from Saks Fifth Avenue. In addition, Phillips will emcee a live auction of coveted items and experiences. Highlights of the auction include an in-home catered dinner party that will be featured in an upcoming issue of St. Louis AT HOME; a St. Louis Cardinals experience package that includes a behind-the-scenes tour, batting practice and owners seats; a luxury item from Saks Fifth Avenue; and a 10-week old Shih-tzu/Bichon mix puppy. One hundred percent of the money raised through the live auction will be donated to Autism Speaks.
“We are proud of how Fever has evolved into a premier fashion show in our city. This year’s event is sure to be the best yet.” said Publisher Leslie Tunney. “A key part of our mission is supporting nonprofits that benefit children, and this year we are honored to partner with Autism Speaks to help raise money and awareness for their organization.”
