For 90 years now, The Animal Protective Association of Missouri has been providing the care, shelter, and love that so many pets across the state have needed. And in order to celebrate a huge milestone in the organization's history, the APA involved reknowned sculptor Harry Weber along with many local artists to partake in The Harry & Hanley Project!
Soon-to-be shown all around the St. Louis Metropolitan area, The Harry & Hanley Project was inspired by the mission of the APA: dedicated to bringing people and pets together, advancing humane education and creating programs beneficial to the human/animal bond. This mission truly shines through in each statue created for The Harry & Hanley Project, a public art project featuring 20 unique, larger-than-life dog and cat sculptures.
Ten dogs named Hanley (after the APA's mascot) and ten cats named Harry (after the sculptor, Harry Weber) will be revealed to the public as part of the Purina Pooches in the Ballpark Day on June 22 in the famous Busch Stadium. Each animal has a character of its own, which will be on display throughout St. Louis for the entire length of the summer. And in honor of an astounding 90th anniversary, the APA advocates for all St. Louisans and tourists to actively participate with St. Louis Magazine in finding all 20 sculptures before being reunited at entrances to the Clayton Art Fair. The Harry & Hanley Project sculptures will then be auctioned off at the APA's 90th Birthday Bash extravaganza on September 14!
Tickets to all events involved with The Harry & Hanley Project are on sale now, and more information can be found HERE.
