The momentum continued at night four of St. Louis Magazine's third annual Food Wine Design Culinary Week. A theme of Contemporary American cuisine, wine by Major Brands, and beer by Blue Moon Short Straw greeted guests as they walked the red carpet lined with luxury Lexus vehicles.
The weather was absolutely perfect as Purus Vodka cocktails were concocted by Charlie Myers of McGurk's Public House in O'Fallon. Diners indulged in delicious hors d'oeuvres while gazing upon the intricate tabletops designed by Cure Design Group; David Blakely, Paige Gilbertson, and Kimberly Reuther of Niche; and Elizabeth Cordes, Josie Littlepage, and Chasley Bradbury of Cosmopolitan Events.
Behind the scenes, Brandon Benack of Truffles and Joseph L. Hemp V of Robust Wine Bar brought fine dining to a whole new level at the Contemporary American night of Food Wine Design. The first course consisted of beef tartare with 21 day cured egg, and was perfectly paired with Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot Noir. Soon after, course two was served and was beyond delicious: chicken dodine with black eyed pea puree and a cherry compote served with a Novelty Hill Chardonnay and Blue Moon's Short Straw. The third course could only be described as the world's best barbecue! “Sweet-Heat” Kurobuta Pork shortribs, hand-made mac’n’cheese, and sharp slaw, paired with a Hartford Zinfandel, allowed guests to taste the incredible talent of the chefs. And as a perfect end to a perfect meal, strawberry shortcake was served for dessert along with a sweet Augusta IceWine.
And as the Tommy Halloran Duo put a twist on sweet, jazzy singles, the winners of the tabletop competition were announced—Cure Design Group took first place for the best tabletop of the evening! Through the live auction and raffle, St. Louis Magazine was able to raise $3,600 for Food Outreach, putting us at a total of $23,100 raised so far for the week of Food Wine Design and at a fantastic 92% to the $25,000 goal with one night left!
