St. Louis Magazine continued to entertain local foodies at the third annual Food Wine Design Culinary Week. While admiring the aisles of luxury cars and registering to win the perfect wine package offered by Lexus, guests sipped on wine from Major Brands and beer from Batch 19.
As cocktail hour kicked off, diners delighted in tasty Purus Vodka cocktails created by Matt Seiter of Sanctuaria and Keyan Still of Hendrick's BBQ. Partygoers admired the creative table tops designed by Three French Hens with Jeanie Hood, Sallie Home with Sallie Kramer, and B. Davis Design with Barbara Davis.
Eric Kelly of Scape and Lou Rook III of Annie Gunn's created culinary masterpieces at the American Heartland night of Food Wine Design, showcasing their true talent and passion with every course they prepared for this sold-out crowd of 160. The first course of the night, a softshell crab with basil aoili and hot house tomatoes, was paired with Mer Soleil Chardonnay and was a unique approach at this classic American dish. That was soon followed with course two, Copper River salmon a la Plancha: soy-ginger glaze, black carrots, and puree of English peas. The third course—a delicious twist on lamb chops—featured ramp pesto spaghetti and Morel asparagus salad, and was paired with Justin Syrah and Batch 19. A sweetly created "strawberry shortcake" made with panna cotta was the amazing ending to a fantastic American meal.
And while Mo E Trio finished their last set, the winners of the tabletop competition were announced and Sallie Home took first place for the best table top of the evening! Through the live auction and raffle, St. Louis Magazine was able to raise more than $7,300 for Food Outreach, putting us at a total of $12,700 from night one and two of Food Wine Design and at an impressive 50% to the $25,000 fundraising goal for the week.
