Creating the perfect piece of art takes incredible thought, preparation, presentation, and in this instance - plenty of research! At the World Chess Hall of Fame in downtown St. Louis, curator Sofia Hedman will open A Queen Within exhibition on October 19. The new art exhibition features the archetypes of a queen and the exploration of it's meaning in the most unique ways possible.
A Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes, Fashion, and Chess is the collection of objects from dozens of thought leaders, fashion-insiders, curators, and chess-players who found their own individual meaning for "A Queen Within." In the game of chess, for example, the queen is known as the most unpredictable and powerful piece on the playing board. Some designers include Anrealage, Minju Kim, and Writtenafterwards - all possessing a unique grasp and display on the subject matter. Through film, photography and literature, the queen possesses a risky yet feminine position. By exploring the meaning deeply in different artistic contexts, A Queen Within will ignite the curiosity in each visitor that sees it.
