Between the first month back at work and trying to accomplish New Year's resolutions, it's nice to take time and enjoy the winter season. Guests did just that by "Swinging in the Great Hall" at this year's Downtown Winter Ball & Gala, hosted by the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis and the Downtown St. Louis Foundation.
Over 400 people walked through the doors of the St. Louis Public Library on Saturday, January 26, celebrating its reopening and the dazzling changes that had been made. Along with the renaissance of downtown, the festive cocktail attire and "swinging" entertainment made the night even more memorable. Professional swing dancers kicked off the event by showing their skills on the dance floor - even bringing a few audience members along for the ride! While some were overwhelmed with the urge to dance because of the hip, 40's retro music provided by Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers, others nibbled on delectable delights and sipped on fantastic cocktails. Both young, growing entrepreneurs and local business people were able to enjoy themselves at the kick-off party of 2013.
Even during the excitement of it all, hosts, sponsors, and guests accomplished exactly what they had come out for: to raise charitable proceeds committed to supporting the continued revitalization of Downtown St. Louis. Nearly $50,000 was donated to continue the improvements on Lucas Park, and it couldn't have happened without the generous people who attended the gala.
Presented by US Bank, Stifel Nicolaus, and sponsored by St. Louis Magazine along with many more, Downtown Winter Ball & Gala kept the renaissance of the downtown area alive. To take a look at how incredible the night really was, make sure you check out the party pics.
