What is the Spirit of RaRa you ask? St. Louis Magazine and guests attending the cultural event of the Spring found out on Saturday, February 9. Experience Kanaval and the Spirit of RaRa Gala & Auction, hosted by Meds & Food for Kids (MFK), was an incredible night celebrating Haitian art, music, and culture.
All those who attended were surrounded by the liveliness and exuberance of Haiti. Music was performed by authentic RaRa drummers and band, while dancers enchanted everyone in sight. Guests gathered around the delicious cuisine and art of the country, and even enjoyed an auction to help support a generous cause.
MFK, founded by St. Louis pediatrician Dr. Patricia Wolff, is an organization working to completely end malnutrition and ignite economic growth in Haiti. This past October, Meds & Food for Kids opened a new and efficient facility to manufacture their Ready-to-Use Therapeutic food that helps thousands of children each year keep from starving. The next step for the organization is to treat pregnant and nursing mothers, and working to improve the learning conditions of school children.
All proceeds from the Experience Kanaval and the Spirit of RaRa directly benefited the "Local Hands, Bright Future" capital campaign helping those in need. Check out the cultural evening in St. Louis Magazine's party pics gallery!
