VISTA Ramen
This afternoon, Casey and Jeremy Miller, the owners of the critically-acclaimed VISTA on Cherokee Street, announced they will be closing the restaurant after dinner service this Saturday, August 18th. The announcement comes just after a recent concept change, which opened and operated for two years as VISTA Ramen. (Another popular concept, Porano, closed on July 31, also after a recent concept change.)
In 2016, the Millers (who also own the popular Mud House) and chef Chris Bork opened the hip, intimate, restaurant that originally served a variety of ramens and Asian-inspired cuisine. Then, just a few weeks ago, they announced VISTA was dropping the “Ramen” from their name and completely changing the concept to an upscale diner serving comfort foods.
The Millers and Bork shared that the decision was a very difficult one and they wanted to “thank the customers and the neighborhood we love for its support which made the experience so fulfilling.”
In the announcement, the Millers announced that Chef Ari Ellis will take over the 40-plus seat VISTA space and will open a diner concept called Morning Glory. Ellis currently runs The Cut, where the focus is house-made sausages and bratwurst. The Cut operates out of Fortune Teller Bar one block west of VISTA on Cherokee.
The Millers' missive ended with, "Thanks for the good times, St. Louis. Hasta la VISTA." Indeed.
