“I give it six months.”
“The idea is twisted—I’ll tell you that.”
“Is that place still open?”
That's just a sampling of the castigations that Twisted Ranch has received since opening in Soulard in 2015. But after more than two years in business—and seeing wait times sometimes spike to three hours—the ranch dressing–themed eatery is moving to larger digs.
It plans to reopen for lunch and dinner just a block from the original location, at 1731 S. Seventh, the former home of Soulard's Restaurant & Bar, on March 27 at 11 a.m.

The popularity of Twisted Ranch—which became a viral sensation after a BuzzFeed video—demanded a larger space. The new location is triple the size of the original space and seats about 120. The larger kitchen will even allow the restaurant to expand its variety of ranch flavors from a dozen to 31, although much of the remaining menu stays the same. A second floor provides space for overflow and private events.

Owner Jim Hayden has also talked about plans for further expansion: Last October, he told SLM that he'd received numerous inquiries about franchising—"at least 10 since the word got out about the move. I tell them to hang tight—we’re still refining the concept.”

Twisted Ranch is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. (though it is closed briefly from 3–5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday) and 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday.
