If St. Louisans want to get their hands on one of Tropical Liqueurs' frosty cocktails, they have until December 4—otherwise, they'll have to wait until spring 2017.
Tropical Liqueurs ("Trops" for short) will close its first St. Louis location in Soulard this Sunday night. It will then move to a new location at 4104 Manchester in the Grove, which is expected to open this spring. The larger, warehouse-style space is double the size of the Soulard location at about 7,500 square feet, including a 2,000-square-foot patio courtyard.
"I think this new, open layout is going to provide an even better atmosphere—more fun and inclusive," says Billy Thompson, who co-owns the St. Louis Trops with his sister Connie Vaughan and brother Bradlee Thompson.
Billy adds that the Trops teams has "a lot of new ideas" when it comes to the drink menu. Guests can also expect a food option, which wasn't available in the Soulard location. Guerrilla Street Food—a fast-casual joint serving Filipinio-inspired fare—will open its second location inside the space as well.
"We knew that when we were going to be able to double our space that we wanted to have a food option," Billy says. "Once we sat down and talked [with the Guerrilla Street team], we had a great partnership in the works. We could not be more excited."
As for the Soulard space, Billy says they'll be offering it for private events through December. They'll continue to use it as office space and possibly sublet it.
Trops opened the Soulard location in August 2015. Locations are also open in Columbia, Missouri and Springfield, Missouri.
