Wasabi Sushi’s on a Roll
One of the best deals in town? The longstanding weeknight specials during Maki Roll Tuesdays, featured at all seven locations of Wasabi Sushi Bar. Every Tuesday from 3 p.m. until close (and all day for carryout), any maki roll regularly priced at $14 or under is $6 (that’s roughly 36 rolls). Escalating food costs nearly led to a price increase, but John Kim’s management team voted to keep the four-year-old tradition pegged at $6. Also intact is Wasabi’s happy hour (from 3–5:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday), when select appetizers, maki, nigiri, and alcoholic drinks are also discounted.

Pretty Woman Cocktail Experience at Grand Center's Central Stage
A new cocktail and entertainment experience is coming to Grand Center this month. Beginning Tuesday, November 16 – and corresponding with the opening night of Pretty Woman at the Fabulous Fox – guests can stop by Central Stage (3524 Washington), home to a pop-up collaboration from Mid Coast Media and STL Barkeep that will pay homage to the Center's calendar of theatre and events. Kicking off the Pretty Woman Cocktail Experience are unique movie and musical-inspired cocktails, including She Rescues Him, Cindaf***in’rella, One for Edward Lewis, Vivian’s Rubies, and "Big Mistake. Big. Huge." The venue opens at 4 p.m. (see complete hours here) offering a themed, pre-show happy hour for theatre-goers (or for anyone in search of a unique cocktail experience). After Pretty Woman wraps on November 28, the cocktail concept and theme will change.
On Saturday, November 27 at 8 p.m., Mid Coast Media will present a comedy show, “Pretty Funny Women” in the venue and will continue to host ongoing, weekly comedy shows in the space.

Fries on Everything
There’s a saying: “Everything’s better with fries.” Well, yes and no. There’s nothing wrong with putting goodies on top of fries (chili and cheese, loaded fries, poutine, salchipapas), but fries shouldn't go on top of burgers, hot dogs, pizza, steaks, and especially nachos, nor should they be summarily stuffed into sandwiches, hoagies, gyros, and shawarma, or dipped into milk shakes. Enough already. Fries extend a dish; they don't make it better. You’ll never be criticized for serving them just-out-of-the-fryer hot, dusted with sea salt, and sided by an apprporiate dipping sauce: Heinz Ketchup, fry sauce, cheese sauce, remoulade, or a homemade aioli.
