INSIDER TIP
Food Pedaler Turns Eight
This week, Food Pedaler celebrates its eighth year in business. And to commemorate the occasion, for the first time ever, the locally owned, bike-powered delivery service has collaborated with partner restaurants to create four items for pickup or delivery. From The Cup comes the Pedaler Cupcake (a yellow cupcake with vanilla buttercream, as well as red, yellow, and blue sprinkles), available at The Cup location in the Central West End. Pickles Deli assembled The Pedaler Sandwich (with hot roast beef, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, and banana peppers on a toasted asiago bagel), available at both Pickles Deli locations. Hello Juice & Smoothie crafted Pedaler Juice (with mango, pineapple, orange, carrot, and blue spirulina), available at Hello Juice. And Pie Guy Pizza created Pedaler Pie (with artichoke, roasted mushroom, roasted garlic, basil, onion, green bell pepper, and pecorino cheese on an 18-inch New York–style crust), available at Pie Guy Pizza. All four items can also be delivered through Food Pedaler. Check the respective websites for availability, as delivery dates vary.

Family-Style Italian Dinner at Eleven Eleven Mississippi
On Wednesday, February 24, Robert Colosimo, general manager and executive chef at Eleven Eleven Mississippi, will prepare a five-course Italian dinner at the restaurant. In the spirit of Italian dining, several of the courses for Colosimo’s Italian Table will be served family-style. And in the spirit of the times, each party (from two to 12 guests) will be seated at its own socially distanced table. The menu includes antipasti, Sicilian-style stuffed artichoke, grilled swordfish spiedini, Beef Cotoletta (breaded and pan-fried beef tenderloin with eggplant caponata, potato, and braised greens), and, for dessert, pine nut cake, served with honey from the chef’s nearby apiary. The dinner is $79.99 per person (plus tax and gratuity) with an optional three-course wine pairing for an additional $19.99 (plus tax and gratuity). Call the restaurant for reservations. 1111 Mississippi, 314-241-9999.

“Contact Us” Back, Please
When a customer elects to reach out via the “contact us” tab on a restaurant’s website (or leave a phone message, for that matter), they expect the inquiry to be attended to expeditiously—certainly within 24 hours—not days or weeks later, if at all, as sometimes happens. Such comments should be treated just like a complaint on one of the crowd-sourcing forums—that is, addressed immediately, before the commenter has a chance to become annoyed, share the negative experience with friends and family, or take their business elsewhere. The “contact us” function should be treated just like a restaurant’s landline voicemail—either use it or lose it.
