The Kitchen Sink, the former Louisiana-inspired restaurant, is reviving for a day-long pop-up event in October.
The event, which will be held at Crafted (3200 Shenandoah) on October 5, will feature Cajun and Creole brunch and dinner dishes from Anthony Ellerson, Jr., owner and head chef of The Kitchen Sink. Ellerson has recently found a “temporary home” at the restaurant and will be serving up some of his signature dishes from The Kitchen Sink.
The brunch menu will include comfort-food favorites such as shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, crab cake beanie, and Monte Cristo. The dinner menu will feature Southern dishes including humble pie, jambalaya, and seafood gumbo, as well as burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and salads from The Kitchen Sink’s old menu. Expect to see plenty of shrimp po’ boys and Cobb salads.
Brunch will run from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., and dinner will run from 4 p.m.–midnight. Service at both times will be first come, first served.
Crafted was the result of a Bar Rescue rebranding of the former Van Goghz Martini Bar & Bistro. The restaurant now features updated pub fare, pressed cocktails (using a French press), and a bottomless mimosa brunch on Sundays.
The pop-up comes a few years after The Kitchen Sink closed its tiny, diner-style location on Union Boulevard. Ellerson closed the restaurant’s downtown location in 2017. Most recently, Ellerson considered opening a new Kitchen Sink location at 5513 Pershing, but those plans never came to fruition.
