The fifth location of Tamara Keefe’s locally churned ice cream juggernaut opens July 15 at 13426 Clayton (at Mason) in Town & Country’s Mason Woods Village Shopping Center. It marks the brand's second store launched during the pandemic. (The location at The Meadows in Lake St. Louis opened last July.)

The store will follow the same formula as the other locations, offering a wide range of all-natural ice cream flavors—both naughty (with booze) and nice (without). A large blackboard behind a bank of dip cabinets lists the flavors, which rotate (or are introduced) on a seasonal basis.

New this season: Missouri Mud, a flavor created especially for the state's bicentennial and a tribute to several area chocolate makers, including Peanut Butter Indulgence fudge from The Candy Factory in Columbia,  Fleur de Sel caramel cordials from Christopher Elbow Chocolates in Kansas City, and single-origin Davao cocoa powder from Askinosie Chocolates, a bean-to-bar chocolatier based in Springfield. Missouri Mud will be available all summer and celebrated on August 10, during the state-wide ice cream social.

The other new flavor is MoJo CoCo, a vegan coconut ice cream with vegan dark chocolate bark, toasted coconut, and almonds. (As with Clementine’s other vegan flavors, if you weren’t told it was vegan, chances are you would never guess.) Also on the summer calendar are the return of fan favorites Blackberry Buttermilk and Strawberry with White Pepper and Balsamic Swirl.

While Keefe says every location is unique in its own way, the hex-tile flooring, suggestive selling artwork, and Front Porch Mint-colored walls have become the template.

It’s scant hyberbole to say every article written about Clementine’s can legitimately claim another new award, accolade, or mention. While Clementine’s has offered nationwide shipping for years, USA Today recently named it one of the top 10 best regional ice creams for delivery. Clementine's also took first place in the St. Louis Magazine's Reader's Choice A-List Awards for Best Dessert and Best Ice Cream/Frozen Dessert.

Clementine's new location opens just in time for National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 18. All locations will be offering giveaways and T-shirts to the first 50 households in line. And when you pick up a pint, remember that the containers are dishwasher safe and reusable in the kitchen or garden.
