Milagro is a restaurant that fosters indecision. Choose from better versions of basic dishes such as burritos and tacos (remember, the Tilford brothers also own Mission Taco Joint and Tortillaria); chef’s specials, which exhibit even more of chef Jason Tilford’s creativity; or a nightly special, such as Grilled Chili-Rubbed Steak with Oaxacan Mole Amarillo, named after the two chilies that give the sauce its orange-red color. A local root vegetable ragout and green chili goat cheese grits make it hearty, and a fried sweet potato flame makes it fun. It’s a variation of the dish that Tilford cooked for Mexican culinary authority Diana Kennedy, who had high praise for it. 20 Allen, 314-962-4300, milagromodernmexican.com.
