The new digs are at 3133 Watson, next door to LoRusso's Cucina. Lot and street parking are available.
It’s a good day to visit the new Pint Size Bakery, for a multitude of reasons.
1. The one-mile move up Watson road is now complete. The new location (3133 Watson at Arsenal) is more than double the size of the original and spacious enough for tables and chairs—cool, retro ones. Now customers can grab-and-go...or come-and-stay.
2. The Grand Opening was held last Saturday, so its owners (Matt and Christy Augustin and Nancy Boehm) have had two days off to breathe and an additional day to restock the striking 80-year old pastry display case made of bird’s eye maple.

3. Pint Size can now accommodate quart-size orders, things like multiple birthday cakes and wedding cakes: “All those things we always wanted to do, but were too small to do, now we can do,” Augustin beamed.
4. The former pastry chef at Sidney Street Cafe also explained that while the bakery had always used local farm eggs, it now uses local milk and cream as well, “products that were just not available to us in quantity when we opened four years ago,” she said, insisting that customers will taste the difference in their Kaldi’s coffee, lattes, and cappuccinos.
5. Another difference is the house coffee mugs, 16-ounce, hand-dipped enamelware mugs imported from Poland, customized with images from the bold wallpaper, also custom-made. “Both those items are unique to us,” Augistin revealed, “but finalizing the mug design was a challenge, since some of the emails were answered in Polish.”
6. The overriding theme at the new Pint Size is "more," as in more space, more flavor options, more availability, more seats, and more design details to investigate, each one with its own story.
7. Shortbread yellow walls give way to a powdery blue in the kitchen. Enamel-topped tables conjure grandma’s kitchen, as does the white beadboard wainscoting. It’s hard to imagine the dusty and shopworn Dr. Tom’s Vacuum Repair could be transformed into such a decidedly warm and pleasant space. “This part of South City is home, it helped us grow,” Augustin rationalized, “and I knew this was the right space for us to grow into.”

8. Helping Augustin (below left) in the endeavor is partner Nancy Boehm, who came on board a full two years ago to help with the expansion. “So it took a little longer than we thought,” Augustin shrugged.

10. Artifacts include a 90-year-old door found in an alley and a 12-pane window recycled from Claverach Farms (below) that now provides a portal into the kitchen. “Our customers loved to watch the baking process,” Augustin said. “We didn’t want to lose that.”
