Tapped in Maplewood reopens as Tapped Social House
The self-pour beer and pizza concept offers 40 beer taps, wood-fired pies, and a range of new appetizers.

Just shy of a year after turning off the taps, Tapped in Maplewood has reopened under new ownership as Tapped Social House (7278 Manchester). Reggie Trankle purchased the self-pour beer and pizza concept from original owners Lindsay and Ryan Reel. “I always wanted to have a cantina on the beach,” Trankle says. “Now I’ve got a more practical cantina, without the beach, right here.”
What’s the Same
The concept itself remains essentially unchanged: 40 self-pour beer taps dispense domestic, mostly craft brews, available to purchase in increments as small as a single ounce or as large as a 64-ounce growler. Bracelets are issued to guests upon entry to both trigger the taps and monitor beverage intake. “You can sample many beers affordably," Trankle says, "and you’re not stuck trying pints that you may not like."
The wood-fired pizza oven is back as well. The Hefeweizen crust recipe is the same, the cook time is the same, the bubbled crust is as good as it ever was, and the toasted ravs are the same as before. Also making a return engagement are several fountain varieties of Excel sodas.
What’s Different
Tapped Social House is operating on a limited menu for the moment but plans to eventually offer 13 signature pizzas. For now, Trankle recommends the pistachio pie, built on an olive oil base with finely shredded red onions and Parmesan cheese, topped with pistachios, basil-and-rosemary-infused olive oil, and fresh basil. He also recommends the cheeseburger pizza and—his personal favorite—the chicken bacon ranch popper pizza (see lead image). The menu also includes a number of new appetizers, including fried pickle chips, buffalo chicken dip, and Tapped Tater Bombs (jumbo tater tots stuffed with bacon, cheddar, and chives).

Additional tables added to the middle of the room can be pushed together to accommodate larger groups, emphasizing the social component of Tapped Social House.
Table service has replaced the self-ordering system from the prior iteration. "Food orders are placed at the table, and then the customer gets to experiment with the beers, cocktails, and soon wine," Trankle says. "Eight additional taps had previously been used for wine; right now, we're dispensing cocktail mixes from four of them—and issuing the customer airplane bottles of liquor to mix to their preferred strength." The other four taps are for wines. Current selections are: Four Bears Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Pacific Standard Pinot Noir 2019, Rancho Rodeo Chardonnay 2021, and Ward XII Cabernet Sauvignon 2019.
What’s Next
In the future, Trankle is excited to build the business and the menu. The storefront came with a wood-fired pizza trailer, and he’s looking for someone to take on the truck as a full-time gig. He’s also hoping to launch a concept that he’s calling “cupcakes and cocktails,” bakery partnerships to highlight over lunch on Sundays. Online ordering and delivery are also on the wish list. For now, though, Trankle says, “We’re here. The beer is cold. The food is great.”
