Here’s a mini-scoop: Shoppers tasted sweet samples of house-made Mexican ice cream on Saturday, when the Taco & Ice Cream Joint (2738 Cherokee) handed out mini-cups of mango, mint chocolate chip, and blue-and-pink swirled bubble gum ice cream.
The newest Cherokee Street eatery and sweetery opens later this month with street tacos, ice cream, paletas, and more.
The location marks a new chapter for owner Salvador Rico. His 4,000-square-foot El Morelia Mexican Market (12005 St.Charles Rock) in Bridgeton has been serving tacos and ice cream on Saturdays and Sundays, much to the delight of SLM dining critic Dave Lowry, who chronicled the eats there last February.
