Hungry herbivores will once again flock to Forest Park this Sunday, August 28, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. for St. Louis VegFest, the popular party for all things planty.
More than 70 vendors will be on hand, serving exclusively vegan products. There will also be speakers, kids’ activities, music, comedy, lectures, and more. New this year: the cooking challenge, sponsored by ICL Foods.
“We went on a mission to find some of the best vegan chefs in St. Louis,” says St. Louis VegFest event manager Caty Brown. Among the slate of competitors: Bombay Food Junkies' Krupa Panchal, Native Foods' Chris Bertke, and Terror Tacos' Bradley Roach. “They will be using ICL’s plant-based protein to create something with it."
During the festival, indie musician (and longtime vegan) Penny Eau will also perform. Dr. Niraj Shah will explain the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. Crystal Stevens of Flourish Farms in Godfrey, Illinois, will speak about regenerative farming. Sol Asar will lead two yoga classes, and Ree brings two sound-bath performances. Vegan comedian Steven Marcus Releford will also bring cruelty-free giggles from Los Angeles.
There’s a ton of food to choose from. Terror Tacos returns to the festival. Station No. 3, Natasha Kwan and Rick Roloff's new restaurant in the former Utah Station space, will be serving dishes. Venerable vegan favorite SweetArt will appear at the festival. Plant–based chicken chain Project Pollo will be on hand. And if you have a sweet tooth, the plant-based frozen custard from pop-up Wandering Yeti is a must.
Admission to the festival is free. Visit the festival's website for more details.
