Fried chicken and homemade sides at Pit Stop, which opened on the Hill in May
The following list is accurate as of an early June press date.
SLM began publishing the following list in 2008, mainly to keep track of the recession-generated restaurant closures that we feared would materialize but never did. Instead, openings outpaced closings during the recession and have done so ever since. The list was published at the end of every month until this March, when we took a temporary break during the COVID-19 pandemic, as restaurants were forced to temporarily close their dining rooms to help prevent the spread of the virus. While the future of many existing restaurants is now uncertain, many have reopened, and quite a few new ones are slated to open in the coming months. We've resumed coverage, following our last entry in February. For a running list of the restaurants that have recently reopened (we've logged more than 200 at press time), click here.
