Petrichor Brewing has announced that it will be changing its name to Shortleaf Brewing. The rebranding comes with the purchase of a 6,000-square-foot building with upgraded brewing equipment and a 150-barrel capacity at 311 S. Business Route 5 in Camdenton, Missouri, near Lake of the Ozarks.
Shortleaf also plans to obtain a new canning line to distribute its mainstay beers, such as Blood Orange Wheat, AmericAle, Lazy IPA, and Bear Lake Shake. Shortleaf will also be adding a new IPA with heavy amounts of Centennial and Chinook hops that mimic notes of pine; a percentage of sales will be used to help replant shortleaf pine trees throughout the state. There will also be a stronger focus on its line of seltzers, with continued development of the current beer varieties.
Jonathan and Michael Crowell founded Petrichor Brewing in O’Fallon, Missouri, in 2017. The original 4,000-square-foot location will remain open under the new branding.
The name Shortleaf comes from the owners' collective appreciation of nature and originates from the native pine found in the Ozark region, which has seen extensive decline in numbers over the years.
"The rebrand is in part due to the expansion to the lake but also partially due to the new partnership between [my brother] Jonathan and I at Petrichor and our brother Matthew and brother-in-law Robert at the lake location,” Michael Crowell explains in a press release. "We all came together to come up with something fresh and new, but still holds true to what we’re already doing in O’Fallon, which is making great products!”
