Of the myriad events taking place across St. Louis this weekend, one is especially noble.
On September 3, from 5-9 p.m., kids and adults will use colored sidewalk chalk to cover Ritz Park (3147 S. Grand) with “positive messages and artwork about compassion for animals,” according to Vegan Storyteller, host for the event taking place in over 150 cities. This is the third annual Worldwide Vegan Chalking Night, but the first time St. Louis is participating.
Vegan Storyteller’s mission is to recognize and normalize veganism by building bridges between people, animals, and the planet (Read their Vegan Manifesto here.) Project Animal Freedom is an animal rights-focused organization based in Eureka, Mo. Terror Tacos, which opened at 3191 S. Grand this spring, is the city's first vegan taco joint, featuring scratch made tacos and street food with Southwestern flair, in an atmosphere that includes heavy metal music and horror movies.
Tonight’s goal is to "cover the sidewalks of the world" with images of compassion for animals. The event is free, but interested participants must complete this form. And bring sidewalk chalk if you can!
