Smoked Salmon Benedict with green salad and oven-roasted Roma tomatoes, at The Dark Room.
It's never easy securing reservations for Easter Sunday (especially when it's only a week away), but we discovered some new and exciting options—and at press time (gasp!), reservations were still available. (And should you come up empty, reserve something for Mother's Day, which for many restaurants is the biggest dining day of the year.)
The Dark Room, 3610 Grandel Sq, 314-776-9550
Relatively new to the dining (and brunch) scene is The Dark Room (see SLM’s introductory article), which moved into the Grandel Theatre six weeks ago. The room seats only 60, so larger parties can be a challenge. The a la carte Sunday brunch is served from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features live local music from 11 – 1:30 p.m. (it’s the Tommy Halloran band on Easter Sunday). At press time, chef Samantha Pretto was still at work on the Easter Sunday specials, but the standard menu (including the salmon Benedict pictured above) can be viewed on the website.
DeMun Oyster Bar, 740 DeMun, 314-725-0322
DeMun Oyster Bar serves an a la carte brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to the standard 15-item menu, one of the Easter Sunday specials will be, wait for it…rabbit hash.
Weber Grill Restaurant, 1147 St Louis Galleria, 314-930-3838
Starting on Easter Sunday, Weber Grill Restaurant will offer a buffet-style brunch in the Grill Academy section of the restaurant (pictured above). All the Weber grills and smokers will be in action at several live grilling stations, serving made to order items as well.
Adults $30.00, $15 for kids 12 and under. Make reservations on the website or by calling 314-930-3838. Both menus are below.
Made to order:
Benedicts: Canadian bacon with maple hollandaise; sliced brisket with tomato hollandaise; seared lump crab cakes with standard hollandaise
Buffet:
Carving station: hickory smoked turkey breast with Sunday gravy (regular brunch item), carved leg of lamb (Easter Sunday and holidays), smoked honey glazed ham
Hot: cherrywood smoked bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, French toast kabobs
Cold: fresh fruit, artisan cheeses and cured meats, grilled marinated vegetables, Mediterranean pasta salad, smoked salmon spread, sliced tomato and onion
Desserts: featuring pastries and breads from Weber’s in-house bakery, danish, croissants, sweet breads, scones, cheesecake bites, mini chocolate bundt cakes, and chocolate covered strawberries.
Orlando’s Event Center, 4300 Hoffmeister, 314-638-6660
Orlando’s has always offered one of the most comprehensive and value-packed Easter buffets around. The menu is spread across several live food stations (omelets, waffles, sliders, pastas), plus carved top round of beef, honey baked ham, chicken modiga, several varieties of eggs Benedict, chilled shrimp, smoked salmon, fresh vegetables, desserts, a salad bar, and a chocolate fountain. Seatings are at 10:00, 10:30, 12:00, 12:30, and 2:00. Buffet pricing includes coffee, tea, and juice.
Adults $27.95, $12.95 for kids 2-10, kids under 2 eat free. Call 314-638-6660 for reservations.

Easter Brunch at The Coronado in Midtown/Grand Center.
The Coronado, 3701 Lindell, 314-881-4346
Butler's Pantry operates three of the most popular brunch venues in town: The Coronado, Bixby’s, and Café Madeleine. The latter two are sold out for Easter Sunday, but at press time there was availability at The Coronado, the company's most recent location to offer brunch.
New this year, young diners can help themselves to the special Kids Buffet, built lower to the ground and stocked with kid-friendly items like mini cheeseburgers, fresh crudité, mac & cheese, and more.
There are six other serving stations (breakfast, omelets, salads, carving, entrées, and seafood). Menu highlights include local cheeses, hand-carved tenderloin, French toast, seasonal baked egg strata, pastas, chilled oysters, Alaskan snow crab, and a dessert buffet, which includes gluten-free sweets. (The entire menu can be viewed on the website.)
Valet parking, a champagne toast, coffee, milk, juice and soft drinks are included in the brunch price. At press time, The Coronado had available seatings at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1 p.m.
Adults $55, $20 for kids 3-12, kids under 3 eat free. Call 314-881-4308 for reservations and note that Butler’s Pantry requests a credit card to hold each reservation but “guests will not be charged until they have enjoyed brunch.”
Piccione Pastry, 6197 Delmar, 314-932-1355
Piccione hosts its annual family-friendly Easter brunch with communal-style seatings from 9 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Offerings include Piccione Benedict (pictured at right), ricotta pancakes, caprese and fresh fruit salad, chicken Alfredo, eggs and bacon, Italian sausage, signature pastries, and Italian cookies. Lavazza coffee, iced tea, and soft drinks are included with the price; Mimosas, Bloody Marys, juice, and specialty coffees are available for an additional price.
Adults $22, $10 for kids 3-12, kids under 3 eat free. Call 314-932-1355 for reservations. Like The Coronado, Piccione requests a credit card to hold a reservation but guests will not be charged until after brunch.
Moulin Events, 2017 Chouteau, 314-241-4949
Moulin Events—the sister venue of Vin de Set, 1111 Mississippi, and PW Pizza—will open for buffet service on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu items include scrambled eggs with cheese and chives; bacon and sausage; stuffed French toast; spinach and mushroom strata; Lyonnaise new potatoes; salad; seafood pasta; flatbreads; mac & cheese; carved turkey with stuffing; meatloaf with mashed potatoes; and multiple dessert stations. Juice, soda, and coffee is included in the buffet price, plus one Mimosa or champagne per adult. Note that Moulin is a larger space that can easily accommodate big groups.

Head's Store at The Inns at St. Albans, 3519 St. Albans, 636-458-0131
Starting on Easter Sunday, Head’s Store in St. Albans will offer additional breakfast and brunch items every weekend. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy Head’s signature French toast, made three ways—laced with bourbon maple syrup, caramel apple with glazed pecans, and savory chive topped with fried catfish. New brunch offerings include eggs to order, assorted quiche, egg strata, and an English muffin breakfast sandwich. Also on offer are Southern biscuits and gravy, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, English muffins, and other pastries.
Also beginning Easter Sunday, the Inns’ popular $20 Sunday supper buffet dinner will be served at Head’s from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., (guests can also order from the regular weekend menu). Head’s Store also features a spacious side patio that overlooks St. Albans Lake. The store, first established in 1892, celebrates its 125th year this year.
Reservations are not accepted for either meal period. Call 636-458-0131 for more information.
Cyrano's Cafe & Wine Bar, 603 E. Lockwood, 314-963-3232
One of the things we like about Cyrano's is how they handle special occasions: no "special" (which usually means pricey) prix fixe menus, no buffet service, just the same familiar offerings plus reasonably priced specials for the day. A la carte meals at Cyrano's are approximately $8.50 to $15, even on the most popular days to dine out.
Another thing we like: while Cyrano's does not accept reservations, their "call ahead" seating policy gives an accurate indication of any wait time at which point your name is added to the list. Sunday brunch hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 314-963-3232 for more information.
