St. Louis chefs have been in the spotlight lately, and now another chef is joining their ranks. Natasha Kwan, the owner and executive chef of Frida’s vegetarian restaurant in University City, is featured in an upcoming Food Network show with Guy Fieri that airs later this month.
Kwan will be in the first episode of Guy’s Grocery Games to highlight vegetarian chefs. The show, which is hosted by Fieri, has four chefs competing in three elimination challenges as they make their way through the grocery store. A rotating panel of guest judges decides which contestant to eliminate after each round. The winning chef can take home up to $20,000 in a grand prize round.
Kwan is keeping quiet about whether or not she wins, per the show’s contract. Viewers can tune in December 26 at 8 p.m. to find out if she won the grand prize.
“I never thought in a million years I’d make it onto the Food Network. I had the best time filming the show, and it was a blast to work with Guy Fieri,” Kwan said. “It was a bucket list experience, and I hope it inspires viewers to put more veggies on their plates.”
Kwan’s TV debut comes as she prepares to open a new restaurant. Earlier this month, Kwan and her husband and Frida’s co-owner Rick Roloff announced plans to open Diego’s Mexican Restaurant, which will be located next to Frida’s in the former Momos Greek Taverna space.
