Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria is hoping to reach a milestone of $200,000 raised for local charities by next week—and you can help push them over the finish line.
Since September 2014, the restaurant has held its Giveback Tuesday event on the last Tuesday of the month. Each Giveback Tuesday highlights a different local nonprofit, with Katie’s donating 100 percent of profits from the day’s business (including lunch, dinner, drinks, and takeout).
Chef Katie Collier and her team are hoping to break the $200,000 mark for funds raised since Giveback Tuesday began five years ago. As of June 17, Katie’s had raised and donated a total of $198,273 for local charities.
This month’s event on June 25 will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter, and specifically the association’s “The Longest Day” campaign.
According to Betsy Morgan-Brown, of the Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter, over 110,000 people in Missouri are living with Alzheimer’s disease, with 314,000 relatives and friends acting as caregivers to those affected. “We provide education and support to all those facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias throughout our community, including those living with the disease, caregivers, health care professionals, and families,” Morgan-Brown said.
Usually, the fundraiser usually takes place at only one of the restaurant’s locations. However, on June 25 both the Town & Country venue and the recently renovated Rock Hill location will be donating their profits in full to the battle against Alzheimer’s.
Whether you’re a repeat customer or have never eaten at Katie’s before, June 25 would be the perfect time to pay them a visit and help a good cause. Call the restaurant or visit their website to make reservations.
