Guerrilla Street Food is no stranger to fast food with the success of its food truck and fast-casual restaurants. Now the Filipino joint is displaying its fast-casual prowess through a McDonald’s-themed pop-up dinner next month, called McPop.
Guerrilla Street Food executive chef and owner Brian Hardesty will work with guest chef Nate Hereford to create a dinner with dishes inspired by iconic McDonald’s menu items. Hereford, a former product developer at Just, Inc, a plant-based food manufacturing company based in San Fransisco, was also the former executive chef at Niche restaurant.
The meal, which is slated for December 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Guerrilla Street Food’s Delmar location, will include eight courses with beverages included for $89.99—think chef-inspired, tasting-menu-style interpretations of the Big Mac, Chicken McNuggets, Coca-Cola, etc. (We put in a request for an Egg McMuffin.)
“I have always admired Chef Nate’s skill and intuition in the kitchen. It will be a milestone for my own career to work with him at this dinner. Plus, who doesn’t love the idea of high end, modern iterations of fast food dishes that we all grew up on? I cannot wait for this!” Hardesty said in a press release.
The dinner will not be a black-tie affair. Guerrilla Street Food is asking guests to dress casual for a meal of “American pop culture food taken to an entirely new level,” it said in the release. The dinner only has one seating with 48 tickets, so attendees are encouraged to snag a spot soon.
The popup collaboration comes nine months after Guerrilla Street Food debuted its Delmar location. The restaurant still operates its food truck and has brick-and-mortar spots on South Grand and in The Grove where it serves Filipino-inspired fare such as slow-roasted pork sauced with sriracha and tempeh adobo.
