On a blue-sky dream of a day in October, on a first visit to Global Brew Tap House in Rock Hill, the clouds reflected on the door almost look like sudsy foam on a great beer, portents of good things to come when Global Brew opens at 1 p.m. on October 9.

There’s a new place to quaff one, or three cold beers in town, and it’s a doozy of a place. At Global Brew Tap House in Rock Hill, 50 craft beers on tap and 200 beers in bottles and cans await thirsty beer geeks in a place that spells fun in any language.
The graphics, a loosely drawn map of the world framed in beer, convey the message: Beers, in select circles, local and worldwide, make the world go round. Beer mantras and slogans crop up on walls and chalkboards. ‘Good people drink good beer,’ a Celtic axiom cited by none other than Hunter S. Thompson, and ‘Believe in good beer,’ for example.
The sophisticated space seats 120 inside and on the spacious patio, with cushy sofas and club chairs, high-tops and regular tables. Comfortable bar stools line up like soldiers in front of the bar. The place is classy but not pretentious. For owners and brothers Chris and Rob Peel, habitués of the original Global Brew in Edwardsville, the opening of the Rock Hill location couldn’t be sweeter.
“We’re excited about the brand and about teaching people about beer. Not all beers a alike,” Rob Peel says. “We’ll have beer school about once a month here.”
His brother and business partner Chris agrees. “We’re about sharing our love of craft beer. We’re Irish Catholics on a fun adventure.”
And so, the adventure begins. Look for more Global Brew Tap Houses as interest in the franchise grows.
“Chris and Rob were customers from day one,” says franchise owner Ryan High. “They would say, ‘We want to be your first franchisees – store 001— and they are.”
