A rendering of City Foundry STL's much-anticipated Food Hall
A slew of new local eateries and a dedicated event space are coming to City Foundry STL (214 South Vandeventer).
The food hall is now 80 percent leased, City Foundry said in a statement. New tenants at the much-anticipated food hall will include Buenos Aires Café (Argentinian fare from Oscar and Ainara Farina of O’Fallon, Illinois–based Los Gauchos), Chela Tapas (Spanish food from local professional chef Grace Dinsmoor), Murf’s Deli (a handcrafted sandwich eatery from St. Louis native Maher David), Natalie’s Cakes & More (pastries from Jennings-based Natalie’s Cakes & More owner Natalie DuBose), and City Taco Shack (Asian-Mexican fusion food from Kalbi Taco Shack owner Sue Wong-Shackelford).

City Foundry will also include a new event space from St. Louis catering firm Butler’s Pantry. The space, named 18Rails in honor of its location near a historic hub of 18 rail lines that once connected St. Louis nationally, will incorporate “chic-industrial” décor and will accommodate up to 700 people, City Foundry said. The facility will also offer free parking.
The announcement of new food vendors and an event space comes a few weeks after a previously-announced vendor, Press Waffle Co., said it would use its $300,000 prize from an episode of Shark Tank to support its franchises including its space at City Foundry STL.
Although Press Waffle is based in Dallas, a number of St. Louis–area eateries are planning to open at the food hall. The lineup is expected to include concepts from local restaurants and food trucks, such as CropCircle (local country fare from Farmtruk owner and Brick River Cider exec chef Samantha Mitchell), Good Day (a breakfast spot from Polite Society and The Bellwether co-owners Jonathan Schoen and Brian Schmitz), and UKraft (a health-conscious eatery from UKraft food truck co-owners Matt and Mike Ratz).
In addition to plenty of places to eat, the Foundry will also include entertainment spaces such as Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Punch Bowl Social, and Fassler Hall.
City Foundry STL was originally set to open this year, but because the timeframe and anticipated tenants have changed, the hall is now scheduled to open in 2020.
