December's ins, outs, and almosts

Restaurant openings, closings, and "coming soons" in metro St. Louis for December 2016.

The following list is accurate as of a late December press date. A condensed version will be published in SLM's February 2017 issue.

Editor's Note: This month, news of two unexpected closings was buoyed by the simultaneous announcement of a pedigreed tenant for each space: the critically-acclaimed J McArthur's will be replaced by a new concept from Robust; and the former Red-L Pizza will offer pizza and salads as Humble Pie, a little sidestep from the owners of Fozzie's. The beloved Humphrey's closed, but will reopen in the same footprint on two floors, plus a rooftop bar and terrace. Franco gave way to Pieces, a board game cafe (the first of several, we believe), and I Love Juice Bar opened in Rock Hill. We'll go out on a limb here and predict that the metro will see a proliferation of juice bars in the coming year.
