Abraxas Truffles at Kakao-Clayton: This Weekend Only
Have you been to the new Kakao Chocolate location, at7720 Forsyth in Clayton’s swank Centene Plaza? This Friday and Saturday (Oct. 17 & 18) the third location of the gourmet confectioner hosts a Grand Opening with samples, specials on hot chocolate, coffee and ice cream, plus sales of the super-limited Aged Abraxas Truffles and chocolate-dipped Abraxas Marshmallows, made with Perennial Artisan Ales’ whiskey barrel-aged Abraxas Stout. The Clayton Kakao is the only location that serves coffee drinks, which are made with Stringbean Coffee and Kakao’s own syrups in flavors like salted burnt caramel.
Red-L Is Tops in Pizza Toppings
It’s not every pizza joint that offers escargot as a topping, but then every pizza joint isn’t like Red-L Pizza. What is probably the sole takeout-only restaurant in Ladue offers a variety of unusual pizza toppings, including nitrate-free hot dogs, marinated shrimp, roasted pine nuts, sautéed crimini mushrooms, fennel, leeks, cauliflower, zucchini, caramelized onions, fresh garlic, the aforementioned snails, and that sign of the times, kale.
Bombay Food Junkies: The Inside Scoop
The winds begin to blow cold, and the food-truck operators begin to wonder if you will come out of your respective hidey-holes and part with your money, or if they should just cut their losses, park the truck in the garage, and sell firewood for a few months? The gang at Bombay Food Junkies has a better idea: turn the commissary into a wintertime restaurant. Starting this Sunday, Oct. 19, you can dine at the Indian street-food purveyors’ cute little five-table restaurant at 3578 Adie Road in St. Ann, each Sunday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. In November, they expand to Saturday and Sunday, and in December, they plan to be open Thursday to Sunday.
