A Chimi's Change
We reported way back in June that a new Chimi’s Fresh-Mex was in the works in the Four Seasons Center at Olive and Woods Mill. But on numerous trips by since then, all we’ve seen is a shiny new sign above papered-over windows. A quick call to the Overland location, in the venerable former home of Hacienda, revealed that the hoped-for January opening has been delayed, among other things, by permits and licenses. The new target date: March.
An Over-the-Top NYE
Will the sea change in the political scene usher in a new Gilded Age starting in 2017? Well, if you want to act like it will, Bar Les Frères has the perfect kickoff. For $200 per person, you can spend New Year’s Eve luxuriating in, among other things, blinis with beluga caviar, day-boat scallops with salmon caviar, filet mignon with shaved truffles, and Champagne and other wines to go with each of the five courses. Seatings are at 6 and 9 p.m. For reservations, call 314-725-8880.
Schlafly Turns 25
With the news that St. Louis microbrewery pioneer Dan Kopman is leaving the brewery that he founded with its namesake, Tom Schlafly, it seems almost mandatory that the Schlafly 25th Anniversary Party, December 26 at Schlafly Tap Room, be swarmed with 25 years of friends. Another great reason to celebrate: beer prices will be rolled back to 1991, and there will be a bunch of great music, including Tortuga, Middle Class Fashion, Trigger 5, and Tom Hall.
