It has been the longest restaurant construction project I have ever witnessed, spanning well over two years. Mike Faille, owner and founder of the Talayna's string of pizza parlors (he's often referred to as Mike Talayna), has never been known for speedy construction projects, but Ol' Blue Eyes at 731 S. Lindbergh at Conway (the old Coco's/Reuben's building), has to be a record-breaker.
Faille's tribute to Frank Sinatra was supposed to open in the Fall of 2008, I joked in a blogpost last Spring that it might open in the Fall of 2009, but the reality is it'll most likely open this Fall. In fairness to Faille, he did undergo quadruple bypass surgery this year, which understandably took his eye off that ball.
There's a new general contractor in place who has set a 90-day timeline for completion, which means late-November. Or December. Can I get a New Years Eve?
