Sugs2[1]
Sugo's Spaghetteria was one of the local restaurant success stories at a time when, quite frankly, there weren't too many. Within 90 days of its opening in October 2008, Sugo's expanded from 80 seats to 130. At that point, owner Michael DelPietro knew the magic number was 10, as in $10 entrees. (Sugo's caught SLM's attention here, in the June 2009 "Cheap Eats" cover story and here, in the October 2009 "Best New Restaurants" issue.)
Chapter 2 of the Sugo story has now begun. The second location will be at 17402 Chesterfield Airport Rd. (the former site of Masterpiece BBQ). Again the concept will be pasta entrees at or near the $10 mark, but this time with with some less expensive salad and sandwich alternatives thrown in to broaden the already broad appeal.
The opening for the as-yet-unnamed restaurant is projected to be March 1. And as sure as Hamilton's face is on the $10 bill, DelPietro has yet another one in the works. -- George Mahe
