Nathalie's: By all counts, the reincarnation of the former Salt restaurant in the CWE is spectacular, especially when bedecked in its holiday finery. The three-story space is charming and inviting, as are owner Nathalie Pettus and exec chef Jimmy Voss (formerly of Duff's), who regale guests with tales of farm and fork: Pettus' Overlook Farm in Clarksville, Mo currently supplies a portion of the vegetables and proteins (the goal is to eventually supply them all). Even in winter, the farm's vast array of hoop houses was responsible for the nest of kale, chard, and spinach that appeared on Voss' dinner plates last week. 4356 Lindell, 314-533-1580, website under construction, see Nathalie's on Facebook.
The 12 Pies of Christmas A feast of a dozen mini-pies wrapped festively and delivered to a loved one's door may be this season's most fun and unusual edible gift. Perfect served en masse or one at a time, each 5" pie is fresh-baked, individually wrapped, and may be frozen. Choose from 15 varieties at locally-owned itseasyaspie.com. $85
Super-Sized Cupcakes We highly suspect that some munchie-fied stoner is behind this...the trend of making cupcakes so large they should be split--like, three ways. Just as offensive is the pricetag: charging $6+ for a cupcake oughta be as illegal as whatever shady substance spawned such an aberration.
