Clayton Restaurants... because through Sunday, January 26, it's Clayton Restaurant Week, your chance to try out (or revisit) 19 of the city's better restaurants, from stalwarts like Jimmy's on the Park to newbies like Brazikat or 801 Chophouse. During the annual event, participating restaurants offer items from a 3 courses/$25 menu. It's a great deal, granted, but it's not the best time to wander in. Make a reservation, not just to secure a seat, but so the restaurants know how much to prep.
Juniper. Now! Before the raves get any ravier, reserve a table at Juniper (because the place is small) and order the not-free-of-charge bread basket (because it's worth it). After that, you're on your own--from the chicken liver pop tarts to the pork and beans (believe it) to the fried chicken--it doesn't matter. Just good Southern cooking in the eastern CWE. 360 N. Boyle, 314-329-7696, junipereats.com Lunch pick-up and delivery available soon.
Bright Lights After Dark Brighter restaurant lighting is fine earlier in the day, not so after the sun goes down, hence the almost ubiquitous use of rheostats. What irks us is when managers/owners simply forget to dim the damn lights. Next time, we might just pop on our sunglasses...to see if they get the hint, or merely dismiss us as one of those people.
