One of the best chefs in town is doing a charity dinner and it doesn't cost an arm and a liver. Kirk Warner, late of King Louie's and now catering at Kirk's Traveling Kitchen, is preparing Harvest Dinner, a benefit for the University City Children's Center.
Two other fine facts about this: Andy Ayres, the premier middleman of prime produce, is helping procure ingredients, which means plenty of local stuff. And given the location and the price, we're thinking this is jeans and sweaters rather than black tie and coiffures.
It's being held at the school, 6646 Vernon Avenue, on Thursday, November 14. Appetizers at 6 p.m., dinner at 6.30. The cost is $40 per person--and that includes wine.
The menu hasn't been released yet, as Warner is pondering just what kind of magic to make for the guests. But move quickly - space is limited to about 60 guests. Here's a chance to taste the food of one of this town's most acclaimed chefs, who now does only private work. Get on it.
