On Dec 28, pending any 11th hour negotiations, the last Starbuck’s in the Saint Louis Galleria—that funky, grab-and-go kiosk on the second floor—will close.
In the short term at least, that leaves nowhere in the Galleria to get your high-maintenance/high-price latte (the one they can’t seem to get right even after you manage to rattle out your specs in their proper order).
I realize this isn’t the end of the world, just one more example of things being a little out of whack... we’ve managed to plant a coffee shop at every unsynchronized stop light, yet oddly no one has jumped on what has to be a lucrative coffee market. (I would think the Galleria employees alone would keep such a place in business).
Update: Between starting this post and posting it, I heard from Galleria General Manager Earl Dorsett. "The situation should be resolved fairly quickly," he told me, though he wasn't at liberty to say who's stepping in or when.
Good. I would have hated to cross-contaminate my 52 oz. QuickTrip mega-mug…we all know those things were designed for a different type of caffeine: Mountain Dew. —George Mahe
