It's only getting better along West Lockwood Avenue in Webster Groves: a Jimmy John's closes and a locally owned and operated sandwich shop appears in its place.
Provalo Deli (that's PRO-vuh-low, as in the Italian command for "taste it!") is slated to open late next week in the Old Reliable Building at 229 W.Lockwood, just east of Rock Hill Rd. The owners are Tom and Colleen Favazza & John and April Travers. Their goal is "to bring a little bit of The Hill, the best of The Hill" to Webster, according to Colleen, who was dropping names like Volpi, Fazio, and Bertarelli like they were friends...it seems everybody knows everybody on The Hill.
It's getting that way in Webster, too. Spend a little time on the long, communal patio shared by Robust, Yo My Goodness, and now Provalo and you'll either see a friend or make one.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Provalo Deli. (But just imagine the possibilities had the name been Provel Deli. Talk about a taste of home...)
