As reported in the October issue of SLM, prix fixe (pree feeks) is making a resurgence. Formerly limited to only French restaurants and bistros (was it because they were the only ones who could properly pronounce it?), you can now find 4-course meals all around town ranging from $25 per person. (A friend calls it “organized tapas.”) This month Trattoria Marcella weighs in and even one-ups the competition (like we need another reason to go there). See below. – George Mahe Beginning October 2 thru November 1, Chef Steve Komorek of Trattoria Marcella will be featuring a four-course regional Italian dinner for only $25. Chef Steve is one of the few American chefs to have received a Slow Food Master of Italian Cooking dipolma from the Instituto Di Superiore in Jesi, Italy. The regional menus will change weekly and will also feature wine specials from the respective areas. Reservations are suggested. Here's the itinerary: October 2-4, Emilia-Romagna October 7-11, Tuscany October 14-18, Le Marche October 21-25, Sicily October 28-November 1, Piedmont
