For months, the speculation that Pi Pizzeria would locate downtown centered around not "if," but "where."
This morning, in a press release, Chris Sommers announced that Pi's fifth St. Louis location would be a 4000 SF space (plus patio) in the Mercantile Exchange (MX) building on Washington Avenue. It is the first restaurant announcement for the so called MX District and appears to be its anchor tenant. Pi 5 is slated to open in the first quarter of 2012.
A sixth Pi is under construction in Washington DC, where PiTruckDC, a mobile pizza truck, has been laying the groundwork. Even before its brick and mortar debut, the DC Pi has been well-received by the scribes in Capital City.
Oh, and the Pi empire will expand further. Relish will provide details as they materialize.
