With all 3 three of their Pi pizzerias humming along quite nicely, thank you, owners Chris Sommers and Frank Uible are getting used to big numbers. But nothing like this...
Today, on Pi-Day, 3.14 of 2010, a contest was held in all three Pi locations (at 3:14 PM of course), to determine who could recite the most digits of the familiar, but unending, mathematical constant pi. My memory banks took me as far as 3.1415 and then I blanked. Next, only a memory of Seinfeld: No pizza for you!
This just in...the winners. They are, impressively:
East Loop Pi: Juila Cooke, 77 digits of pi
Kirkwood Pi: Stephanie Langsford (14 years old), 84 digits
CWE Pi: Andrew Vance, 114 digits. (The runner-up was 11 yr. old Jared Holliday, 77 digits.)
The winners all received a $100 Gift Card to Pi. (Tossing in the DVD to A Beautiful Mind would have been a nice touch.) -- George Mahe
